We started at the Garfield Trail Trailhead. The weather was hot and humid to start, but it was not raining. The trail was fairly easy up Garfield and before long we were at the summit. As we continued up in elevation, the weather cooled and if I stayed longer at the summit , I would have had to put on a jacket (despite it being the middle of July). As we continued along the Garfield Ridge trail to Galehead hut, it started raining and we were soaked by the time we reached the hut. We continued to the summit of Galehead and then back to the Hut. We took a brief break at the hut and then continued down the slippery trail via the Galehead River trail. When we reached the Galehead River trailhead, we quickly hiked the 1.6 miles along the dirt road to the Garfield Trail in pouring rain., where the car was parked. Overall, it was a really nice day to hike. The clouds and rain kept it cool and we did have some views from the summit. Despite being soaked, we managed to stay warm enough while hiking, but we did have to be careful because once we stopped moving, we started to get cold. If we were staying overnight in the rain, we would have needed dry cloths. Once back in somerville, I treated myself to some Guinness and Tequila.
